playing in the kitchen

In my former life, I mostly photographed knits and food, not people. I don't get much time to cook peacefully enough to photograph the process anymore, but I usually make something over-the-top chocolate for my husband's birthday each year, which I love documenting. This year, it's chocolate stout cake (from Bon Appetit - halve the recipe unless you're feeding a crowd!), filled with caramel sauce and topped with caramel buttercream (from CHOW - needed quite a few tweaks, but it's a good starting point). Thanks for indulging today's deviation from people pictures. <3
